The South Carolina abstracts through 1850 encompass ALL Mathews found in the state regardless of whether or not they are related to me.

The below document contains abstracts of all Mathews wills that I have found from several southern states. The wills are abstracts that I personally created (meaning they are not copies from a book) based normally on the original will although in a handful of cases I used copies that others created to base my abstract on. I have included notes for most of these wills to assist in determining how the individual fits into the family at-large.

Deed records, along with estate administrations, are probably one of the most under used sources for genealogy. Not only can deeds sometime explicitly indicate familial relationships deed books can also contain transactions other than land sales such as pre-nuptial dowry agreements, slave sales, and many other miscellaneous transactions and agreements.
